ISS astronauts take first spacewalk

The astronauts living on the International Space Station are carrying out their first spacewalk.

Leroy Chiao and Salizhan Sharipov moved outside the ISS to install new hardware on the station's exterior.

They are due to attach a German-built robotic experiment, life science study hardware and other science instruments.

The astronauts were also inspecting ISS exhaust vents to check for blockages.
