Fidel Castro “is recovering well. He's sits up, writes, has a telephone and gives orders, instructions”, said Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez during his weekly ‘Aló presidente!’ television and radio program.
Chavez made a surprise visit last Thursday in Havana to visit with the Cuban ‘líder máximo’, recovering from surgery he underwent on July 31, when he handed his powers to his brother Raúl.
“The rapidity of his recovery surprised me”, added Chavez, then reading a passage of a letter written by Castro to his doctors: “After half a century of operations, care, injuries, stitches… I have a great desire to return to my office”.
