I'm trying to confront somewhat of an obstacle in my dream state. I'm looking for any tips you may have from your personal experience about taking control of your dreams.
I've had a few glimpses of success, but usually, once I can realize that I am dreaming while dreaming, my surroundings turn dark and demonic. I experience some sort of paralysis, but eventually always end up waking myself up out of pure fear.
My few successful attempts lasted only a few seconds, but were blissfully liberating.
Share anything you want really. I love hearing all about dreams. |

You not only have to recognize that your in the 'dream', but have to then decide to do whatever your 'mind' might want to do next.
When confronted with 'evil', look into yourself and choose the 'lighter' side and think about what you want to do and DO it.
If there are contrivances of your will then PURPOSELY DO 'something' that doesn't 'fit' the dream.
Go from there, it will depend TOTALLY upon your dominance of the 'dream'... CHOOSE to be in charge.

If you dream, always tell yourself to act as if you are at work. You will keep a more calm attitude and function without using your emotions. If you get emotional, get scared, angry, or sad, it will just feed the frenzy. Do only what you think you would do in front of people and never think you are alone.
That leaves much less opportunity in your dreams for any idea to take over and hurt you. |

I do quite a bit of lucid dreaming. Some of the outcomes are hit and miss even if I am lucid. Once you become aware that you are dreaming try to stay aware of what going on in a detached manner. That is not always easy.
Even if the dream does not fit your expectations try to flow with it reguardless of the outcome. Information can be acheived from this technique as well.
If you goal is to control all the aspects and outcomes of you dream world then I am not the rihgt person to be giving you advice.
Good luck...remember it is only a dream..kind of! |

Always sleep with the pillow under your head for elevation. I only have dreams of not being able to move when I am laying flat on my back with no eleveation.
I always have those dreams that you scream for help because you can't wake yourself or move yourself and things are picking or eating at me. I have never had them when the pillows under the head. Maybe I have some kind of breathing problem. Maybe going into hyperventilation in my sleep? I don't know, but the pillow and breathing in cool air at night improve breathing. |

I wish i could give you advice, but for some reason, i can't use this. i only relise i'm dreaming occasionaly, and when i do i usualy either wake myself up by physicaly opening my eyes, or i just roll with it. the only thing i ever do is just notice that i have a third person veiw, and am looking at myself. another thing you should try to do is just get in the habit of thinking, or even saying, quick, what dady is it! what did i have for breakfast! do this even while awake, and often, and you might just get lucky and do it in your dreams.
the only problem i've ever had with my dreams (i don't have nightmares, but around full moons i have dreams that make popping shrooms while on acid look like work in a cubicle) is when i'm only half dreaming. i can't see or hear anything, but i know there is something chasing me. so i run (once or twice i have had to swim or bike) and run and run (or swim/bike) and eventualy, because i'm only half dreaming, i actualy raise a foot, then am filled with fear as i "trip", as there is no ground under my foot. then, the back of my foot hits the bed, and i wonder how i fell over, still filled with fear. finally i realise it was only a dream (sort of) and wake up... sort of. |

I can sometime start dreaming as I fall asleep while I am still conscious or know that I am falling asleep. Instead of relaxing my eye as I fall asleep I look into the darkness. Eventually (sometimes) I will start to dream well before my REM sleep. It almost happent the other night, but the dog started making weird noises.

I'm not really sure how to induce it, with any accuracy or reliability, but I do know this....I read a book once called "The Art of Dreaming", I can't remember the name of the author, but in it he describes that if you want to wake out of a nightmare remember when the terror starts to focus on one narrow point, let's say your hands and focus intently on them and it will bring you "out".....inversely, I have found that when you start to feel the dream "fade" if you start looking around at random objects quickly it seems to "solidify" the dream back into a more stable state.
Also, I have found that if you take a small nap in the evening, you (or I, rather) will tend to have more lucid dreaming later at night when you lay down for real....I don't know if it is because of some chemical that is slightly depleted during the nap, which maybe aids in a more "deep sleep" later, that because you nap it is less somehow...seems to make sense. |

Well we all start with normal dreams we canīt control or maybe remember.
Most of my dreams are rather nightmare or I used to see them as nightmares because I die like 75% in all my dreams and some years ago I still thought it was scary as hell because I usually had such pain in my guts head or heart after those and sometimes even bruises.
Last few years I learned how to control my dreams and I`m not joking but I can choose to do whatever I want in my dreams these days, the only thing I cant control (yet) is the environment in my dreams but I can control myself as I see fit.
Basicly I`m a god in my own world and I do as I please and neither good nor evil exists withtin me in the dreams or the real world meaning I might have achieved nirvana without me really knowing during the dreams |

| Lucid dreaming always scared me. I would go conscious in a dream and I'd feel like I was trapped inside my head unable to open my eyes. Finally, I would open them. |

i have always had very realistic dreams and am at a point now where im quite concious in my dreams.
i have reoccurring themes, places, mode of travel. i can travel in a bus to the capital city, always end up in a hotel, walking through the lobbys, going in elevators, go to shops, going back to my room to change clothing or get money. even shower!
heights, water (beaches & the ocean) and industry are alwyas common themes. i used to dream alot that i was a passenger in the car and the driver suddenly vanishes and i have to take the wheel. i would have these many times a week but now not so much at all.
random things will happen but theres always a sense of control, this is my dream. which can be good or bad depending on how you see it. for example, if im feeling scared, if someone is trying to find me to cause harm i will calm myself, remember its a dream and the scenerio changes.
it takes alot of time to harness your lucid dreams but i can tell you it is fantastic. i really wish we could record our dreams!
Blessed Be,
Karlie |
