From beginning of manking all of it's history was/is mostly driven by ignorance and false assuptions. making it's own comparissons, humanity choose the best way to move forward and therefore leaving unexplained deep beneath the dust. what we know of, is that, for example - in egypt, in pyramids and tombs of pharaohs (valley of kings and other places of interest) really isn't no proof of torch stands, scientists have declared that there really is no soot!!! ok, then how do they managed to bring light into those dark corners to carve hieroglyphs and wall paintings, which often where scatterred in most unpedictable places..like inside of vase..imagine that!!! ..what a technology they would be needed to paint a painting "from inside"! and i can tell you, there was no marks of stitching in both sides of huge vase, if that's what you thinking :O Most probably you all know, but back in ~1960. archeologists in reagion of Iraq (Baghdad) found what appeared to be a ancient battery charged by salt water and a some kind of metalic pole put altogether in a clay pot, this led to conclusion that ancient egyptians and people of old teritory of sumeria maybe knew electricity lot earlyer than modern day human.
If any of you have read Graham Hancook's book's you will find interesting some particular things about pyramids and sphinx itself. Theory is that, the pyramids aren't as young as they look. If you know history, then you should know that city of Cairo was expanded by removing huge stone blocks from pyramids and by building new domesctical structures. below those protective stone blocks you can see three pyramids on one which still has left some (Khu-fu aka Cheops). Also, why would Cheops pyramid is empty of paintings and hieroglyphs, the only thing that leads to think that it is made for Cheops is one word ligtly scrabbled in room - "Khu-fu", but again, it make's most of people shake head's, because - why would not decorate all pyramid with paintings like all others? Secondly - all three pyramids - Chefren, Menkaure and Cheops - are perfectly aligned with Orions belt, stars - Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka. Most important is that, the pyramid of Cheops has these strange tunnels( four as i remember) that points to nowhere in skies..not true! there is pure proof that they have a much greater purpose than egyptologists may think..and this may proove that pyramids is older, because constellations and pyramid itself (even sphinx) tell's us of a time before 12.500!!!

Please watch these videos, because it's too complex for me to explain all details without any visible example, you will also find interesting discussion about corosion on sphinx and connection with great floods(ending of ice age)..

I'm sure that better minds than I will correct me if I am mistaken but I seem to recall something in Norse mythology which said that the earth, or at least human civilization had suffered near extinction three or four times before and that this cycle would end just as the previous ones had done before.

This is very interesting and intriguing subject as usual. I tend to disagree with much of the mainstream egyptology and archeology etc. I lean more toward abundance of evidence and theories of researchers like Fani Okič, Graham Hancook and lost of others that don't go along with established ˝theories˝ of todays ˝scientific˝ circles.
I agree with both of you on what you have wrote and i believe that slowly but surely the real history of humankind is (going to be) presented to us but it will take time since there is way to much power, money and interests behind todays dogmas. You can't live in the ˝NOW˝ if you don't know your real past and origin that is why we as humankind always crave for the future which we can't control or predict and repeat the mistakes of the past.......

It is obvious that our history is somewhat blur. when Napoleon discovered and conquered egypt, it was Shampalion in 18.century, who told to europe about pyramid's and rosetta stone. from that time history book's where rewriten in biblical manner, leaving explanation's to next generation's for discovering. it's funy, but till now, nobody has completely dechiphered mayan and egyptian hioroglyphs and it leaves us only in guesing, if Sun Disk's who flew up in the skies and crashed in desert, was actualy meant as our all beloved sun.. truly, it is something difficult to explain.. but hey! people of our time have at least started to be more critical on religious and political dogma's(idealogie's etc.),they dislike that somone is stmping on their head's, and they really want to hear THE TRUTH..so, why not give them, why resist? i ask that to myself many time's. but actualy it's not so important how informed you are, but how patient you are in getting along with thing's as politic's and releation's between countries. from them you can learn many thing's, such as - benefit, race for power, spying, and many other greedy thing's. i wonder, where will it lead us? no matter, history has already showed our true "hero" face's, and it's only up to us to make deccion's to follow they rule's..sad that we need to accept choice's of other's, and truth is alway's in hand's of most adept person's Crying or Very sad

There are many mythologies that state that mankind has been raised up only to be brought low again: Mayans, Sumerian, etc. I am a big fan of John West and Graham Hancock and feel that they actually have a better view of Egyptian history by not being "Egyptologists". They are not afraid to look at alternatives and explore other possibilities.

I have to wonder what will remain of us when/if our civilization falls. We don't build out of massive stone blocks, so after 1 or 2 thousand years it would be tough to tell we were ever here.

You're right.
Each time we have faced extinction it is because we are trying to separate ourselves from God. It's ok to do that, from what I read, but you have to be careful not to sever the love factor. When you do that, all hope and dream is immediately lost and you can no longer survive. This has happened in our distant past, and has already almost happened [ i believe] four time in the last century! Read up on the Philidelphia Experement, you'll find something intresting there.
