UFOs in fiction

Many works of fiction have featured UFOs. In most cases, as the fictional story progresses, the Earth is being invaded by hostile alien forces from outer space, usually from Mars,as depicted in early science fiction, or the people are being destroyed by alien forces, as depicted in Independence Day. Some fictional UFO literature may be based on real UFO reports, such as Night Skies currently being filmed. This is based on the UFO Incident that had taken place in 1997 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Fiction featuring UFOs includes:

• The 27th Day
• The 4400
• Earth vs. the Flying Saucers
• Fire in the Sky - Movie that depicts what happened to Travis Walton when he was abducted by a UFO
• Independence Day - In this, aliens blow apart several cities, and a crop duster avenges his horrific abduction by aliens and ridicule by society by flying his F-18 into one of the UFOs positioned over Area 51, taking the alien ship out as it was preparing to fire its "Primary weapon".
• Mars Attacks!
• Night Skies - a soon to be released film based on the 1997 Phoenix UFO Incident. This is a horror film. See also Phoenix Lights.
• Project UFO - TV series created by Jack Webb. This is based on selected UFO reports taken from the US Air Force Project Blue Book.
• Psi-Factor TV show that features an alleged government investigative agency called the O.S.I.R. (Office of Scientific Intelligence and Research). Half of these episodes feature some UFO cases. Dan Aykroyd was the show's narrator who introduced the various episodes. One episode featured a horrific UFO/Alien encounter.
• Sci-FI Channel's Alien Siege
• Signs - the M. Night Shyamalan film starring Mel Gibson. In this, crop circles serve as a warning that aliens are here to kill and eat people. Water is detrimental to these aliens. UFOs are seen all over the planet at night.
• Taken
• Tomorrow Is Yesterday - The Enterprise is mistaken for a LARGE UFO by the US Air Force, and almost shot down by a fighter jet. Star Trek:TOS episode.

• U.F.O. (1993 movie)
• UFO:Enemy Unknown (videogame)
• V - See Fictional resistance movements and groups
• The War of the Worlds 1953 adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel.
• X-Files - Some of the episodes feature UFOs and even aliens. One episode even features Agent Scully being impregnated by an alien, while Agent Mulder still searches for his sister, who he believes, was abducted by aliens. In the X-Files:The Movie, it was revealed that Scully was sent to sabotoge Agent Mulder's efforts in proving the existence of aliens by some government agents, also known as "Spooks" who work for an extremely covert, secretive government agency.
• The Invaders - This features aliens covertly invading this planet. The UFO used is based on a UFO sighting report.
• Destroy All Humans' - Videogame. You play as a Grey alien taking part in humanity's destruction.
• Close Encounters of the Third Kind - a lineman, others spot GIANT UFOS, then are drawn to a National Park, specifically to the Devil's Tower.

Sci Fi Channel

Every time a science fiction related movie is made, a spoiler of sorts is shown on the Science Fiction Channel depicting what the movie is about, who was involved in its production, complete with interviews with the cast and crew.
